well it is my last full day in greece, tear. i love it here! our hostel is called the Pink Palace! you can check it out online if you want at thepinkpalace.com it right on the beach so of course that is were i have been for the last 4 days!
our day in rome was really fun, we woke up early and took a train then a bus to the Vatican. it was neat to see where the pope lived! then we walked to the famous trevi fountain and through some coins in and made a wish! we then proceeded to walk to the Roman Forum which was really neat to see, the pillars and remains of old roman buildings made you feel like you could have been there years and years ago. Then we continued down the road and saw the famous colleseum! (i know its spelt wrong) it was huge!
by then we were tired so we sat and chilled at the foot of the colleseum for a while then took the metro and a bus back to our hostel. in the metro it was cute cuz these too ladies in front of me didnt know how to use the machine to get a ticket and they didnt speak english so i was trying to show them what to do and eventually they just handed me there money and pointed to the machine so i got them there tickets! then these two elder ladies who also didnt speak english tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the machince with money in her hands! so i got her tickets too! lol! i felt very useful!
we got back to our hostel around 2 and showered and napped. it was a very productive morning and we were exahusted! also for those who asked a magnum is an AMAZING ice cream bar! lol! of course its icecream! its like a haggan dazz with rich creamy chocolate layering and a creamy ice cream center on a stick. there are also different flavors! my fav's are mint and double chocolate!
we had a what was supposed to be 4 hour train ride from rome to ancona but it turned out to be six cuz our train was a little brocken! we survived! we then found the port and bought tickets to get to GREECE! it was a 15 hour ferry ride and we arived in Igoumentisa at 6 am we then walked forever and a day to find the local ferry to take us to Corfu. we eventually found it with the help of 2 sweedish girls who were also backpacking and rode that boat for 1 and half hours. which i slept the entire way. the hostel picked us up at that port and drove us to our hostel! we were extremly welcomed and for an extra 2 euro a night we got a room with air conditioning! its actually lovely! we also have a balcany overlooking the coast! beautiful!
tomorrow we leave for Venice, a 24 hour boat ride and were gonna hang out there for the day then get a night train to Munich to visit our friend Anna! wish us luck on the boat!
oh and Uncle Ken i heard you were trying to comment to me! so HI! keep trying!
talk to ya'll later!

Lucca, Italy
well i am still in Lucca and am supposed to leave tomorrow to go to Roma but the trains are all on strick from 9 oclock tonight till 9 oclock tomorrow, odd eh? so we booked another night here and cancelled our first night in Roma.
well we are loving Lucca! its a smaller town and its very midevil! it has a old stone wall that goes the hole way round which i read its only 2 and a half miles long to walk the whole thing! its very pretty and there are many paths on the top of the wall, its very wide!
we enjoyed florence after leaving the evil hostel! and on our last day did all the sites we wanted to see, we saw the Real David statue in the ....i dont want to spell it wrong so i wont try! but it was neat to see the real thing instead of the pictures you always see in school. in the gallery there is also a music room which a hole bunch of pianos are located, and most of them have a plastic covering over the keys but one didnt so i played 3 keys of it to see what it sounded like, bad idea! this man came running over yelling dont touch dont touch! it did sound pretty though! it was harp like! lol! we spent most of the afternoon sitting in the shade in the piazza signora and shopping around! and of course eating gelato! in the evening we hiked a bit up this hill to the piazza de michalango (cant spell) where you get a birds eye view of all of florence! it was beautiful! we watched the sunset and the light of the city appear! gorgeous! my camera doesnt do it justice!
yesterday we went to pisa with a girl from london who was staying in our room! the tower itself was a lot smaller than i imagined! we had a grand day of shopping and sitting in the shade, it is so hot! we then went out in the evening after dark and walked around Lucca, the town is so lively at night, plus theres this summertime festival going on so all these famous people are coming to perform, elton john, norah jones, joss stone and ricky martin (lol) are just a few of them! joss stone was last night and we could hear her from streets!
today was spent lounging around i napped and tamara read her harry potter book which she bought at midnight yesterday!
tommorrow were just gonna chill out again and then monday were off to rome!
chow!

Florence, Italy
oh my, where do i start! first off mom im not sick anymore! were both doing very well thanks for your prayers everyone!
so i left off while we were in nice! our day of rest was lovely we actually did nothing, we attempted going to the grocery store but after walking for an hour down a hill then back up the steep hill only to have gone in a cirle and ended up back at the hostel we gathered that we were not ment to do anything that day and oppted for a lunch of freezies and ordered the supper they were serving that night! then we went to the beach the next day, ALL DAY! lovely! tamara was quite pink after that, i burnt a little on my back but no biggie! then came our lovely day of travel, we woke up at 7 and packed and had breakfast, then we headed down to the train station and becase we didnàt book our train all trains to florence were full, so they told us to go to Ventimiglia and see if we could find sumthing there. so we did. we got to Ventimiglia and then traveled to Genova, from Genova we went to Pisa and from Pisa to Florence! it was a long day, we arrived in Florence around ten sumthin, it was dark out anyways. we were hungry and HOT its is so balmy here. so we got sum food and found an air conditioned room to sit in. we then proceeded to try and call our hostel for diretions and see if maybe they would come to pick us up, well the phone number i tried didnàt work, and i had a little of a melt down, heat and exhaustion do that to a person! but after finding an internet place we emailed them, and then thought hmm.... now what. so we just sat sum more and then thought maybe we should try the number again, well the first time i used the country code before and then this time we tried it without and it worked! but the man on the other end was so rude, he told us to get on bus 17 then get off at ..... then walk up!, oh so helpful! we were very distraught so tamara tried to call him again and told him we didnt feel comfortable walking around at midnight in a foreign city and he said thats not my problem and hung up on her. joy. then this other back packer dude was walking around and started talking to us. we told him our situationan and since he had 2 hours to kill for his next train he helped us find our bus stop. but there are always 2 bus stops for every bus number, both going in opposite directions. so after waiting for half an hour t this stop we asked the bus driver if he stopped at our stop and he said no and pointed across the street.
at this point we had 3 more travelers heading in our direction with us so we crossed the street and waited another half hour, but this time there were two girls from holland waiting and they stayed in the camp ground attached to our hostel so they new where to go! thank you God! so we got there after a treck through a bush up a hill and they rudeness kept coming from the staff there. the next morning we found two american girls on the computer looking for another place to stay cuz they didnàt like it either, so we booked a B&B with them cuz it was 4 private room!
we spent the day yesterday walking around florence through a market and eating gelato! then in the evening we hung out with a group of ppl at the hostel and played cards and talked till they kicked us out at midnight then we went to bed. we checked out this morning and us four went off to find our new stay! we jsut got hear and its lovely! its really nice, me and tamara share a room with a huge bed and couch and little table and the girls (there sisters) share the other room then we have a bathroom in between that we all share! the owner is very nice and its in a very good part of town! were excited! we also get breakfast in bed any time we want it at! how lovley! a crousant and orange juice! all i ever need!
well we think were going to tour around a little! wish us luck! so far we ve felt safe so no problem there!
talk to you later!

Nice, France
yah i'm on a good computer so i can write more than a paragraph without it shutting down!
so today was good! lots of walking and interesting oops moments but it was a good day none the less! we started off on a bus to Eze Village which we were told was an interesting medival town to walk around, well we got off the bus and took a look around and decided we didn't want to stay, so i knocked on the busses door as it was pulling away and it let us back on and we were off to Monoco! home of Monte Carlo and a HUGE palace as a casino! it was an interesting town but it was extrememly rich tourist central! there were Chanel stores on the streets and the mall we accidently walked into had marble floors and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling! we walked rigaht bach out! lol! but then we asked the tourist info place were to find food cuz we were starved and they suggested going to that mall! the only thing we could afford was a bag of MM's! so we sat down on these chairs, and i made the comment 'i'll bet we have to pay to sit down here' and wouldn't you know 5 minuets later and gaurd came up to us shaking his hand (like he was motioning the word 'iffy') and shaking his head speaking in french! we asked if we had to leave and he just kept shaking his hand and then finally shrugged his shoulders and nodded his head! so funny! we laughed as we walked aways, quietly of course!
we then ventured off to find the train station to get to Cap D'ail, it took us awhile and we saw a grocery store along the way and bought a loaf of bread and bree cheese, and a pack of four 'hagandaz knockoff' revels! all together this took up our money for the day! a total of 6 euro's! lol! we ate two revels each on our treck up to the station! very filling! the station was underground but there were no signs so we were a little confused, it was an empty room with an escalator then an elavator, a man in the elavator helped us figure out which train to get on then he even walked with us there on his way to his platform! we deffinalty made the train in like 3 minuets! we got off at Cap D'ail and followed a group of ppl that looked as though they were heading to the beach, this treck led us down and up ALOT of stair cases built into the sides of cliff, and along the coast! very senic! we got to the beach 15 mins later and stayed there for the next four hours! it was a lovely time! a small beach in the alcove of cliffs with clear blue water! and yes mom i wore alot of sunscreen and have not had a sunburn yet! we left around 7 to go back to find the station, which took an hour as of there were alot of winding roads and dead ends and no ppl to ask directions to! we finally came across a lady who speaked english and asked her, she gave us directions and she was right! we enede up at the station arouand 8! when we arrived back in Nice our new mission became finding the right bus stop to catch our 23 bus! we thought we were at the right one but then realized we needed to be across the street, so when we finnaly got on the bus and off at its last stop Saint Maurice Square we realized it was around 930 and busses stop running at 9! joy! so we called the Villa were staying at from a pay phone in the square and 20 mins later they arrived to pick us up!
a very eventful day i must say, Nice itself is under ALOT of construction, and you'de think coming from winnipeg i'de feel at home, but its a million times worse! and there are cross walks but the 'go' sign will be on when one lane of trafic still has a green light. so you really have to beware of vespa's and cars driving, we've had to bolt it a few times! lol! were spending a day doing absolutly NOTHING tomorrow, sleeping and relaxing and sending off postcards is on the adgenda! i'm quit excited, we also have to switch room tomorrow, so thats should be interesting, so far we're in a 5 bed mixed dorm, but its been all girls for the most part. so we'll see where we are tomorrw!
night night!

Nice, France
ah! i forgot what the sun felt like! its so nice to be out of the cold and rainy weather that dublin and london provided us! we spent the day yesterday traveling around, first we flew to London Stansted airport, my now least favorite as of they confiscated all my makeup! who knew mascara and fondation could all hide bombs! but the silly thing was if i were to go back into line outside security and put these items in a plastic baggy and re-enter customs then i could have kept them! what is the difference!!! needless to say i bought all new stuff, no way was i waiting in line again!
our plane was an hour late leaving london to nice, so once we arrived it was nearly 1030. we got our luggage and called the hostel, they were ever so kind to pick us up! good thing since we don't speak french and have never been to the city before nevermind it being dark out! our hosel is very nice! almost resort ish but not close to the beach at all! oh yah i can see it from my window but the walk and bus ride nearly took us 3 hours to get back after a day spent by the shore! only i suppose cuz we hopped on the right bus but it was headed in the opposite direction! the driver was nice enough to not make us pay again , and he showed us our correct stop!
my time is running out so i must leave but thanks for the comments everyone! (michelle how's work going!? also barb i'm a little afraid to stare at people, i'm not sure if there country would kick me out!) were going to Monoco tomoorrw and apperently you can swim in caves! i'm quit excitied!
night everyone!

hope it works!
hope it works!
ok so i'm a little upset as of this computer is taking FOREVER to upload anthing, i've been sitting here for 28 mins and 1 second to be exact and it is not working! so here is a link to Tamara's site if you want to see some recent pics: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=35659&id=707550293
there are a few from london and then some of our adventures in Ireland! we went to a town called howth today! we really wanted to see a cliff! and we have accomplished our goal! we even hicked it to the top! (it wasn't very high) but we had a great time, minus the cold and rain! we made some new freinds also! like a seal that we saw swimming in the alcove under the rocks which we were sitting on and then a dolphin (we think!) fin poked up throught the water! very exciteing! we also had a picnic up there watched a fish we named skippy jump around the water! he was having a joyous time! lol!
yesterday we went out and toured Dublin! its a very small city (we figure its equivalent to the size of downtown Winnipeg) so we can walk anywhere! pretty handy actually! we walked into the medival area and saw the Dublin castle and St.Patricks cathedral, when we got to the castle we weren't sure what we were looking at and becuase it was 10 in the morning on a sunday were the only ones there! but we took a picture and kept on our journey! we spent the remander of the day shopping a walking about, and trying to find places that would let us use there toilet! we finally stumbled across a Burger King that let us use theres, this burger king was HUGE! it was two stories tall! very interesting! we went back to the hostel to figure out which room we were in ( cuz we booked late we've had to switch rooms every night) and dropped off our bags. we were both craving grilled chez so we bought some chez slices and butter and we already had bread and since everyone eats supper around 7 here we had the hole kitchen to ourselves! we were bored in the evening and wanted to see a movie so we walked around trying to find a theatre but when we got there nothing looked appealing, so we sat in the middle of O'Connell street (the main street in Dublin, and were were sitting on the median, its quit large with statuas and such) and relaxed then decided to find sumthing to eat! so we went on journey and even though we eat nutella sandwiches for lunch everyday we both craved a good hearty sandwich so we split one from this random convience store! then we ate it while people watching from the median! a splendid evening!
i'm very excited to leave Dublin, i've enjoyed touring irland but dublin is one city that i won't miss much. i'm very excited to fly to Nice tomorrow! we booked some extra nights there cuz we've decided to bypass Barcelona, Spain. so were now staying 5 nights in nice, and have decided that we are 'holidaying' there. as in sleep in, lye on the beach and do whatever, sofar we've been getting up early each day and its been go go go trying to see everything so sitting and chillaxing for a few days will be nice, especially since it will hopefully not be cold and rainy!
well talk to you all later!
love always
Amy

yesterday we went out and toured Dublin! its a very small city (we figure its equivalent to the size of downtown Winnipeg) so we can walk anywhere! pretty handy actually! we walked into the medival area and saw the Dublin castle and St.Patricks cathedral, when we got to the castle we weren't sure what we were looking at and becuase it was 10 in the morning on a sunday were the only ones there! but we took a picture and kept on our journey! we spent the remander of the day shopping a walking about, and trying to find places that would let us use there toilet! we finally stumbled across a Burger King that let us use theres, this burger king was HUGE! it was two stories tall! very interesting! we went back to the hostel to figure out which room we were in ( cuz we booked late we've had to switch rooms every night) and dropped off our bags. we were both craving grilled chez so we bought some chez slices and butter and we already had bread and since everyone eats supper around 7 here we had the hole kitchen to ourselves! we were bored in the evening and wanted to see a movie so we walked around trying to find a theatre but when we got there nothing looked appealing, so we sat in the middle of O'Connell street (the main street in Dublin, and were were sitting on the median, its quit large with statuas and such) and relaxed then decided to find sumthing to eat! so we went on journey and even though we eat nutella sandwiches for lunch everyday we both craved a good hearty sandwich so we split one from this random convience store! then we ate it while people watching from the median! a splendid evening!
i'm very excited to leave Dublin, i've enjoyed touring irland but dublin is one city that i won't miss much. i'm very excited to fly to Nice tomorrow! we booked some extra nights there cuz we've decided to bypass Barcelona, Spain. so were now staying 5 nights in nice, and have decided that we are 'holidaying' there. as in sleep in, lye on the beach and do whatever, sofar we've been getting up early each day and its been go go go trying to see everything so sitting and chillaxing for a few days will be nice, especially since it will hopefully not be cold and rainy!
well talk to you all later!
love always

Dublin-Ireland
okay, so today's town of choice was Skerries! and no it wasn't scary! lol! oh i'm funny! well we got up early today and packed up, since for the remander of the time here (three nights) we have to switch rooms everynight, joy. anyways, we packed up and put our stuff in the locker room and headed to the train station, there were only three options at the moment, Sligo (which is where we went yesterday), Belfast (which is in northern ireland and our pass doesn't cover that also its dangerous, and another one which i'm currently drawing a blank on, but it started with a 'd'. anyways we picked the 'd' one and decided to get off when on the map we saw this town had a beach! it was a grand day! we frolicked in the sand waded through the water till we saw some jellyfish and got a little nervous! a dog joined us at our picnic on a rock near the water and stayed by our sides faithfully for the remainder of the afternoon! we named her molly! i wanted to take her home, but wasn't sure how i'de manage that one!
after lying around in the sand for a while we ventured on a walk around the shoreline! it was a very cute town, small full of red headed children and plenty of dogs, none of which were on leashes! tamara stopped to pet most of them! lol! don't worry mom none of them had raibes! the sea was so beautiful! it smelled like BC, i know you'de love it here mom! i thought of you today!
we got backto our room (a 10 bed tonight, so far everyone of them are girls, a plus!) and had showers then went for a nap! we just woke moments ago, its now 730! we have no plans for the night but a pub at the corner of our street plays irish music live tonight till 11 so we might go and have a listen!
i love getting all your comments! talk to you later!

Dublin-Ireland
ok so we are now in dublin! i miss london but am excited to see the country side tomorrow! were spending 5 nights here. its alot like london weather wise but the city is alot smaller and glumy, its wierd cuz the it was just as cloudy and chilly in london but for some reason the city was cheerier! if that makes any sense!
we woke up at 415 this morning and said goodbye to whitney and london, took the undergroundto liverpool street then the train to the airport. our flight was ok, it was short and i attemped sleeping but once i was near accomplishing this goal the voice above me started talking about landing in 5 minuets! but we found our hostel ok, not like london! and went right to bed! were in a 6 bed room and there are two other canadians! its nice to have some familarity with us! we deffinatly agree that our hostel in london was more homey, it was smaller so we got to know the ppl there better, but we booked our last two nights there in august before we fly home, so were excited to go back and visit. most of the ppl live there so we know we'll see them again!
we had a 5 hour nap and woke around 7 o'clock! it was very nice! lol! we went in search of food, (ps i had my first european mc.donalds today, not impressed!) and bought some grocerys then went to the kitchen realizing there was no oven we fried up our pizza on the stove! it was very delicious!
we had a picnic on our floor and are just chillin our right now, we'll prolly go to bed soon as it is getting late, and we are tired.
thank you all for your comments! aunty tracey and gang i hope you have a fun time camping! thanks for the comment, and leah thank you for writing me i'm gonna try and call you soon! miss ya all!

ok so yesterday i attmepted to post and just because its me it didn't let me after i had written a huge comment! grrr... on second note, we are having a lovely time!
yesterday we did alot of the touristy stuff, westminster abbey, big ben, parliment buildings, saw the shakspear globe theatre and the ever popular buckingham palace! it was alot of fun! we've figured out the underground which helps and know our area of the city so were really enjoying walking around and goin grocery shopping! we have toured most this city by foot and as a result are sore and usually tired by mid day! today we decieded to go park touring, so we went to Hyde park and kensington park.(there connected) we saw peter pan! he;s alot smaller in person! also on the tube i saw a little boy who i thought looked like ethan! (my brother) but it wasn't cuz he was british! also today tamara got kissed on the cheek by an italian! it was our first taste of italy and we are a little afraid! lo! he loved her dimples! the hostel is nice, and we've chatted to a few of the people, everyone seems to be living here for a long period of time instead of a short stay, there are french men on our floor that wake us from out naps by 'surfing' down the stairs on a 2 by 4! very festive! we have our own room which is nice but there is no lock on the door! so far this has not been a problem we just keep everything in our bags (which are locked) at all times! on our way to the tube we saw H&M so decided we needed to shop! it was fun! it is 3 levels! also the weather cleared up today, just when we decided to break down and buy umbrellas! but i'm sure that won't last long! its canada day so in celebration were goin to mc.donalds! festive eh? lol! well that's all for now, if you read this please comment i want to hear from home! talk to yah later!
